Caregiver Magazine Jan/Feb 2003 Love, Honor and Value (Capital Books) by Suzanne Mintz, the President and Co-Founder of the National Family Caregivers Association, has won a 2003 Caregiver Friendly Award, which is given by Today’s Caregiver Magazine, the first national magazine for all family and professional caregivers. The Caregiver Friendly Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.

Love, Honor, and Value Love, Honor and Value is an encouraging and practical guide for family caregivers about how to take care of themselves as they care for others. This "message to caregivers," from one of its most respected activists, addresses issues such as the impact of caregiving on caregivers and reaching out for help.

Suzanne Mintz is the president and founder of The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA), which is a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of America's family caregivers. Dana Reeve, the Director of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, says, "This book provides emotional insights mixed with solid practical information, written with the compassion, wisdom, clarity, and humor that can only come from someone living with the many rewards and challenges of being a caregiver for a family member. It is time for family caregivers to be recognized as the essential part of the healthcare system that we are and Ms. Mintz is just the person to lead the charge."

Awards will be presented at Today’s Caregiver magazine’s annual Sharing Wisdom Caregivers Conference to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. April 25th, 2003 and will also be profiled in the May/June 2003 issue of Today’s Caregiver and on the magazine’s website, caregiver.com.

"The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds" Says Gary Barg, Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, "This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones."

Caregiver Friendly Awards are presented by Today’s Caregiver magazine to celebrate outstanding books, media, products and services designed with the best interest of the family caregiver in mind. Today's Caregiver magazine, launched in 1995, is published by Caregiver Media Group, which also produces the national Sharing Wisdom Caregivers Conferences, www.caregiver.com and The Fearless Caregiver book which teaches caregivers how to become their loved one’s fearless advocates within the healthcare system.
