AgeVenture News Service 08-10-2006 Alan Harris is the creator and owner of Absolute Body Power Media. This is one very busy guy whose goal is motivational and fun ways to get fit for life.
However, Alan Harris is "serious" about the "fun" part of his fitness regimen. "It's time you take responsibility for your health and STOP blaming your lack of success on everyone and their mama. Is there anything unclear about Alan's approach to life and fitness? I don't think so. Harris' self-made fitness empire includes: 1. "Absolute Body Power" on Comcast cable 2. "Interstials with Alan Harris" on The Discovery Health Channel 3. "It's Your Body" Teen Summit, BET (Black Entertainment Television) 4. National best selling DVD workout series 5. "The Absolute Body Power" exercise and fitness calendars 6. Fitness column for "Washington's Finest" magazine The objective of his latest project, Absolute Body Power is to combine science and common sense to help people stay fit and healthy ... for life. The book takes the boredom out of exercise, fitness, health, and nutrition. "It's like having your personal fitness professional with you at all times." All too often, says Harris, people get bombarded with fitness advice by magazines, news programs, health reports, newspapers, friends, family, co-workers, and fitness gurus. The problem is that all these sources of information offer conflicting advice. "Absolute Body Power combines easy-to-follow steps of what I call the BIG 3: cardio training, strength training, and healthy eating. You MUST do all three; you CANNOT do one or two without the other." The DVD enclosed with this book includes workouts from basic floor aerobics, step aerobics, strength/weight training, Yoga, Pilates, and abdominals. The Yoga and Pilates segments are meant to be performed in conjunction with aerobics and strength training exercises. They are great for increasing flexibility and the strength of your core (the abdominal, lower back, and pelvis areas). Harris doesn't sugar-coat his advice. "The bottom line on getting fit is accepting the fact that workouts are often tough, difficult, and unpopular. Deal with it. All this no-excuses trainer wants from his readers is "sweat baby, just the sweat." In other words, STOP THE EXCUSES, and TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE!"
