June 1999 - MATURE MARKET RESOURCES - PAGE 4
13 - Boomer Girls by Pamela Gemin and Paula Sergi is a collection of poems by women from the baby boom generation. Someone's finally penned a book of poetry that taps the pulse of today's American women. The book is a veritable cavalcade of poetic energy, passion, heartbreak, and giddiness on the theme of women's lives from childhood to adolescence to middle age. "As the younger brother of six older sisters, I found "Boomer Girls" a delightful walk down memory lane. These insightful reflections on nearly every aspect of life are presented with warmth, optimism, and dignity. An absolutely delicious read." (1999) 242 pages, $15.95 paper, University of Iowa Press (1999). In bookstores this October. Also available at the University of Iowa Press.
14 - Creative Caring by Beth Kitzinger and Linda Davies Rockey shows readers how to support the important people in their lives. Each section begins with a story followed by ideas for caring for someone in the situation detailed in the section. Stories range from specific problems such as supporting someone with a debilitating disease, or through a cross-country move, or someone in a troubled relationship. In total, the stories and suggestions create a collage of caring, and help readers create their own personal style of showing that they care. 192 pages. 1999. $10.95. Wildcat Canyon Press / PageMill Press, Berkeley, CA. 1-800-788-3123.
